In Mainland China, indiscriminate attacks and stabbings have been occurring frequently. It was exposed online that on the third day of the Lunar New Year on January 31st, a man in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, was wielding a knife and attacking people, reportedly resulting in at least 4 deaths and 8 injuries.
On February 1st, a user on a certain platform under the account name “Clear Insight Teacher Talks About Governance” released a video claiming that on January 31st, in Chengqiao Town, Liuhe District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, a man was “indiscriminately loyal with a knife”, leading to the unfortunate deaths of 4 individuals and 8 others injured.
He mentioned, “Even ambulances from the neighboring Anhui Province were dispatched.” The video depicted an ambulance from “Minghuang Huiming Hospital” parked on the scene in a small town, seemingly providing emergency assistance, with a large crowd of onlookers and police present. In the video, a man said to those around him, “Knocked down 4, lying down 7 or 8.”
Some netizens have privately spread more videos through mainland Chinese online platforms, describing the scene as unbearable to watch. As of February 2nd, the authorities in Nanjing have not yet disclosed details of this violent incident.
Towards the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, various regions in mainland China have seen a surge in violent incidents involving stabbings and assaults.
On January 13th, reports circulated online about a man wielding a knife at the entrance of the Jinzhu Huayuan residential complex in Liuzhou, Guangxi, resulting in the death of a mother with her child and injuries to a passing man sent to the hospital.
On January 7th, in Fuyong Town, Bao’an District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, reports emerged of a street stabbing incident that led to the death and injury of pedestrians, with one assailant still at large. It was rumored to be a group crime, driven by a motive of “society revenge.”
In November of last year, Zhuhai, Guangdong witnessed two chilling hit-and-run accidents in succession.
On the evening of November 11th, a malicious hit-and-run incident occurred at the Sports Center in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai, Guangdong. According to local reports, the accident resulted in 35 fatalities and 43 severe injuries.
On November 16th, a recent graduate of Wuxi Polytechnic Institute in Jiangsu wielded a knife on campus, leading to 8 deaths and 17 injuries.
