President of the World Chinese North California Chapter Handover: Luo Qianru Assumes Office

On the evening of March 2, the Northern California Chapter of the World Chinese Business Women’s Association held a ceremony for the handover of the presidency in Cupertino. With the Vice Commissioner of the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China, Ruan Zhaoxiong, and the association’s president Lin Shumin as witnesses, Gao Chunhui and Luo Qianru successfully completed the handover of the official seal and responsibilities.

The ceremony was well-attended with guests filling every seat. Among the distinguished guests were Lai Mingqi, the Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, Zhuang Yashu, the Director of the Overseas Compatriot Education Center, Lin Gui-Xiang, the Honorary President of the World Taiwan Chambers of Commerce, as well as officials such as Choi Liangfang, the Mayor of Cupertino, Gao Xujia, former Mayor of Fremont, Vice Mayor of Union City Wang Yaoming, and Councilor Shao Yang from Fremont, all present to witness this grand handover ceremony.

The event began with the national anthems of the United States and China, as well as the association’s theme song. Gao Chunhui, the 11th and 12th president of the Northern California Chapter, expressed gratitude to the guests for attending and reviewed the chapter’s accomplishments over the past two years. She highlighted the chapter’s efforts in promoting industry-academia collaboration, upgrading industries, strengthening ties with Taiwan, advocating for Taiwan’s voice, and supporting Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization.

In addition to charity initiatives and community care projects, the chapter organizes monthly meetings to foster camaraderie among members, creating a warm and close-knit community through learning exchanges, outings, and afternoon tea sessions.

She emphasized that the association is like a big family where members support each other and grow together. Ruan Zhaoxiong thanked Gao Chunhui for her dedication and contributions over the past two years and encouraged the newly appointed president Luo Qianru and the association’s president Lin Shumin to continue leading the organization forward. He stated that the association would play a critical role in enhancing Silicon Valley’s connections with Taiwan.

He called for collective efforts to demonstrate Taiwan’s spirit of “Taiwan Can Help” to the world and further expand Taiwan’s international influence. Subsequently, Ruan Zhaoxiong presented a certificate of appreciation to Gao Chunhui and a congratulatory certificate to Luo Qianru on behalf of the Overseas Community Affairs Council.

Director Lai Mingqi mentioned that since its establishment, the chapter has actively supported Taiwan’s participation in the WHO, organized Lunar New Year events with various overseas organizations, and hosted lectures and activities. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the government for their contributions to overseas community affairs and national diplomacy.

President Lin Shumin led a team of 20 members from the Taiwan Association who arrived in Los Angeles on the 21st to engage in exchanges with the 23 chapters across the United States and personally oversee the handover ceremony. During the ceremony, Ruan Zhaoxiong and she witnessed the official seal handover. She then presented the president badge and responsibility chain to the new president Luo Qianru, handed over the election certificate, and presented Gao Chunhui with a framed responsibility chain.

President Lin commended Gao Chunhui for her active involvement in environmental protection, ESG international industries, and promoting sustainable development. She praised Luo Qianru as a successful entrepreneur and believed that under her leadership, the Northern California Chapter would embark on a new chapter. She urged the community to continue supporting these outstanding women and move forward together.

The newly appointed 13th president, Luo Qianru, stated that they would uphold President Lin’s ideals of “inheritance, love, and values” and continue to deepen their efforts in Northern California. During her tenure, she will focus on technology exchanges, strengthen cooperation with mainstream society, promote Taiwanese culture, and introduce Taiwan to more communities. Additionally, they will engage in charity activities, care for communities and women in need in Northern California, and collectively create more value.

Since its establishment in Taiwan in 1994, the World Chinese Business Women’s Association has established 89 chapters worldwide, including 23 in North America. The Northern California Chapter was founded in 2012.
