On the afternoon of October 13, the Chinese Communist Party’s “Big Five Mao” Sima Nan live-streamed at the Angel City of Pang Donglai in Xuchang, Henan, and was persuaded to leave by on-site staff.
Sima Nan’s live broadcast started at 17:10 on the same day with the title “Sima Nan Strolling Around · Pang Donglai in Xuchang, Henan.” However, it was interrupted after only 13 minutes. The footage shows that while Sima Nan was live, on-site staff intervened to persuade him to stop, stating that they do not accept live broadcasts.
According to Blue Whale News, when contacted about the refusal to allow Sima Nan to livestream, the supermarket department of Pang Donglai Angel City store responded that the incident did occur. Due to the large flow of people at Pang Donglai, and out of respect for customer privacy and personal safety, live streaming activities are currently prohibited at the store. If any live broadcasting is spotted on-site, it will be stopped immediately. Furthermore, the store is currently not open to any internet celebrities or organizations for live broadcast arrangements, as the store does not have the conditions for carrying out live streaming activities.
Sima Nan responded on his personal Weibo account that Pang Donglai Angel City does not prohibit him from live streaming, but rather, due to complaints, all live broadcasts have recently been discouraged.
Mainland Chinese netizens once categorized Sima Nan alongside Hu Xijin, Kong Qingdong, and Wu Fatian as the four “Big Five Mao” of the CCP.
Public records show that Sima Nan, whose real name is Yu Li, is well-known for his extreme anti-American and anti-Western values. However, Sima Nan also claims, “Being anti-American is work, living in America is life.”
In August 2022, it was revealed that Sima Nan publicly admitted on Weibo that he had purchased property for his wife and children in the United States, and had actually bought property in the US 10 years ago, which led to him being labeled as a “two-faced person” by internet commentators and angry youth.
