Multiple Vehicles Rear-Ended on Henan Taihui Expressway, Scene Video Exposed

In recent days, most parts of China have experienced a drop in temperature, causing some road sections to become icy, leading to multiple serious rear-end collisions. On the morning of February 1st, a chain of multiple vehicles collided at the Huanghe (Yellow River) Bridge section of Taihui Expressway in Taiqian County, Puyang, Henan Province, resulting in severe traffic paralysis.

According to reports from China Weather Network, today is the fourth day of the Lunar New Year (February 1st), and the widespread rainy and snowy weather in the central and eastern parts of China is expected to continue for the next two days. Particularly in regions such as Gansu, Shaanxi, Henan, and Hubei, continuous snowfall has led to road snow accumulation.

As reported by NetEase, on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, many people began their return journeys, and the number of vehicles on the highways increased. Around 10 o’clock in the morning on February 1st, a serious car rear-end collision occurred on the westbound K9 semi-lane of Taiqian section of Taihui Expressway. Over a hundred vehicles collided at the scene of the accident, resulting in a very tragic situation.

The accident took place on the bridge deck of the Yellow River Bridge, where the local temperature was low, and the roadside was slippery. Initially, two vehicles involved in the collision stopped on the road waiting for handling. Due to foggy weather and poor visibility, vehicles traveling at high speeds had no time to brake upon discovering the accident vehicles, coupled with heavy traffic flow, resulting in dozens of vehicles colliding rapidly.

The vehicles, due to the collisions, sprawled across the entire road, blocking the entire passage. Drivers got out of their vehicles and stood on the highway, waving to the approaching vehicles to stop. However, as seen in the video footage, when the following drivers realized the precarious situation, emergency braking was ineffective, causing their vehicles to skid directly into the dense mass of accident vehicles. In a matter of seconds, dozens more vehicles collided.

The on-site videos show that there were over a hundred rear-ended vehicles, some completely turned sideways. Some vehicle owners stood by the roadside, while others stood on the roofs of their cars watching the aftermath. Several vehicles suffered severe damage, with their bodies significantly deformed.

According to the meteorological forecast, from February 2nd to 3rd, a cold air mass will affect the central and eastern regions of China, leading to a temperature drop of 4℃ to 6℃ in most areas. In some parts of the northwest, northern North China, northeastern China, eastern Jiangnan, and southern China, temperatures are expected to decrease by 6℃ to 8℃, with the northern regions experiencing strong winds of grade 4 to 5, with gusts reaching 7 to 8.
