Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced on Tuesday (October 22) that she is joining the Republican Party. Gabbard praised Trump for transforming the Republican Party into a party of the people and peace.
Former Democratic presidential candidate and congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced on Tuesday that she has joined the Republican Party out of her love for America and admiration for former President Trump’s leadership.
During an election rally held by Trump in Greensboro, North Carolina, Gabbard took the stage and made this announcement.
Gabbard stated, “It is because of my love for our country, especially due to the leadership brought by President Trump, he transformed the Republican Party to make it once again the party of the people, the party of peace. President Trump, I am proud to stand here with you today to announce my joining the Republican Party.”
She explained that she made this decision because the Republican Party welcomes “independent-minded individuals” like her who stand firm for the American Constitution and freedom.
“I am joining the party of the people, the party of equality, the party founded to oppose and end slavery in this country. It is a just party, and also a party led by a courageous and powerful (former) president who fights for peace,” Gabbard said.
Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president of the United States, and during his tenure, he led the abolition of slavery in America.
Gabbard, a veteran of the National Guard who served twice in the Middle East, pointed out that Trump “promised to end wars, not start them.”
From 2013 to 2021, Gabbard served as a Democratic federal congresswoman representing Hawaii’s second district.
In 2020, Gabbard chose not to seek re-election to Congress and instead joined the Democratic presidential primary. Two years ago, she announced her departure from the Democratic Party.
In August of this year, Gabbard officially endorsed Trump for president.
