During the Chinese New Year holiday, a container truck caught fire and exploded near the Wenjindu Port in Shenzhen, with flames roaring and thick smoke billowing into the sky.
According to the Emergency Management Bureau of Luohu District in Shenzhen, at 7:32 p.m. on February 1 (Saturday), a container truck transporting live seafood caught fire on Yanghe Road in Luohu District, and an oxygen cylinder on the truck exploded. The fire was extinguished by 7:55 p.m., with no casualties reported.
Reports from mainland media stated that the incident took place in a parking lot near the elevated bridge of Wenjindu Port in Luohu District. A truck suddenly caught fire, leading to subsequent explosions.
Multiple on-site videos show thick smoke rising into the air, with flames spreading rapidly. Several fire trucks joined the firefighting efforts, and loud explosions could be heard continuously at the scene, even shattering the windows of nearby buildings. After the smoke dispersed, a long container truck was seen completely burned.
Internet users posted that the explosion occurred about 100 meters from Yanghe South Road near the Wenjindu Port, where a truck caught fire and exploded, and firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire.
A resident of Shenzhen, Mr. Huang, told “Wireless News” that he heard a loud noise, shaking all the glass windows. He said, “I immediately went to look out the window, and saw a truck catching fire on the other side of Wenjindu Port, a large truck traveling between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. I have never seen such a serious explosion before, and the fire burned for about half an hour.”
