On the afternoon of December 11th, an explosion occurred in the residential area of the second phase of the Huarb Residences in the prime location of Shenzhen, suspected to be a gas explosion. Witnesses reported that a woman was trapped and fell from the building.

News and videos circulating online in mainland China indicated that an explosion happened in a residential area near the MixC Shopping Mall in Shenzhen Bay, specifically at the second phase of the Huarb Residences, believed to be caused by a gas explosion.

In the videos, the building was seen engulfed in flames after the explosion, with significant damage to the glass curtain walls.

Another video showed a woman initially sitting by the window of the unit where the incident occurred, but due to the intense heat caused by the fire, she eventually fell from the building.

According to a report by Shenzhen News Radio, on the afternoon of the 11th, an explosion took place in a residential unit at the second phase of the Huarb Residences in Shenzhen Bay. Witnesses claimed that the shockwave from the explosion was strong enough to affect nearby landmark buildings, including the Chunlou Building. Citizens working in the Chunlou Building reported feeling significant vibrations during the explosion, prompting some companies to temporarily evacuate the building.

A worker at a construction site several hundred meters away from the incident site told a reporter that there was a noticeable tremor during the explosion, with the fire spreading to the fourth and fifth floors. He mentioned that a female resident was trapped and seen jumping from the building. Emergency responders at the scene confirmed that the woman showed no signs of life by the time they arrived. Currently, the surrounding roads have been closed off to traffic.

Another passerby mentioned that the fire was intense and described it as “very frightening.”

According to screenshots circulating from the property owner’s WeChat group chat, neighbors had reported a gas leak smell the previous night, but when workers arrived, no investigation was carried out.

As reported by Xinjing News, firefighters at the scene stated at 4 pm that the preliminary investigation identified the point of ignition near apartment C on the 28th floor of the residential building. The cause of the fire was determined to be a gas explosion, with further investigation ongoing. Following the incident, individuals were rescued after falling from the building.
