Costco, the large chain supermarket in the United States, is set to open at least 9 new stores worldwide in 2025, with 7 of them operating in cities across five states in the US.
According to Costco’s website, the company has announced that six of the upcoming stores in the US will open in March this year, with one more scheduled to begin operations in April.
As of Thursday, February 27, the locations and opening times of the Costco stores announced in the US are as follows:
– Brentwood, California: March 2025
– Highland, California: March 2025
– Sharon, Massachusetts: March 2025
– Genessee County, Michigan: March 2025
– Prosper, Texas: March 2025
– Weatherford, Texas: March 2025
– Stuart, Florida: April 2025
Additionally, Costco has announced plans to open two stores overseas, one in Minami-Alps, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, and the other in Ardeer, Victoria, Australia.
Considering the number of store openings by this retail giant in the past two years, it is possible that more store openings will be announced later this year.
In the 2024 fiscal year, Costco opened 29 stores, with 23 of them located in the US. In 2023, 23 stores were opened, with 13 in the US.
Currently, the retailer operates 897 stores worldwide.
Ron Vachris, the CEO and President of Costco, stated in the company’s financial call in December 2024, “We plan to open 29 new stores in the 2025 fiscal year, with 3 being relocations, meaning 26 will be entirely new constructions. Ten of the new stores will be located outside the US.”
Vachris also mentioned at that time that Costco sees promising opportunities in Canada and Mexico, and added, “We continue to see growth opportunities in Europe and Asia.”
