Xiaomi SU7 crashes into guardrail and catches fire, 3 female college students burned to death on board

On March 29, a XiaoMi SU7 crashed into a guardrail on a highway in Anhui and caught fire. According to the family, as the car doors could not be opened, three girls inside the car were burned alive, sparking concern.

According to information from the Anhui highway travel service website, at 23:12 on March 29, a small car with license plate number E AAV1226 crashed into the guardrail on the Chengzhou section of the G0321 Deshang expressway and caught fire, leading to the closure of the Qi Gate towards Zongyang.

Videos and images circulated on the internet show the vehicle quickly engulfed in flames, eventually reducing it to just a shell with the front completely destroyed.

A netizen claiming to be a parent posted that her daughter and two other girls were driving together to take an exam in Chizhou, Anhui. The accident occurred around 10:45 pm on the 29th, with the vehicle crashing into the guardrail, catching fire, and the doors automatically locking. The fire burned for over an hour before firefighters and police arrived, but by then, the three inside had perished in the flames.

The parent questioned XiaoMi, asking, “Why introduce something immature that harms people?” and demanded that the responsible individuals at XiaoMi provide an explanation.

Another netizen post by “Summer Snack Store” introduced, “The car owner is my sister’s daughter, a senior student. There were two other girls in the car, university classmates, heading together to take a civil service exam in Tongling, Anhui, scheduled for 8 am the next morning. They left a night earlier due to road construction on the highway. Unfortunately, an accident occurred, crashing into the guardrail, the front of the car caught fire, the windows and doors were locked shut, and they were burned alive.”

Upon contacting the Huarui Hospital, where the ambulance arrived at the scene, staff mentioned that the two occupants in the front had already been “burned to death”.

The Tongling Highway Management Center responded that the cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

XiaoMi customer service responded on April 1, stating that a dedicated team has been dispatched to the site to cooperate with the police and family members for a detailed reconstruction investigation of the accident to assist with subsequent procedures.

Many netizens expressed their sentiments, “Last time a car exploded in flames, but the doors couldn’t be opened, causing people to burn alive. Why design doors that won’t open? Why hasn’t such a design been banned?! The poor three young girls, XiaoMi and Lei Jun must bear full responsibility. Immature products are pushed into the market based on various hype, consumers themselves also need to reflect and think.”
