Woman drifts in Shandong and is attacked by high-pressure water gun, leading to blindness.

A woman in China posted on social media on June 9th, claiming that she was attacked with a high-pressure water gun by an unknown man while playing at a drifting spot in a scenic area in Shandong, resulting in her blindness. The news made it to the trending topics on Baidu on June 11th.

In her post, the woman stated that she arrived at the Qilu Songshan Canyon Drift in Linqu County, Weifang City, Shandong Province around 2 p.m. on June 7th. At around 2:50 p.m., she got off the boat at a midpoint to buy something. When she boarded the boat, the staff was already preparing to set sail. Suddenly, a group of people maliciously dragged her to the shore and attacked her with a high-pressure water gun at close range. She described the intense impact and pain she felt as the water gun hit her back and side of her face. Despite her loud protests, a man aimed at her eyes and the powerful impact caused instant blindness in her right eye. She called the police at the time, and the perpetrator fled after insulting and threatening her.

She is seeking eyewitnesses in the post, hoping to find people who were on the boat with her or others who witnessed the entire incident.

According to the medical diagnosis she provided, the traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis showed eye contusion and blood stasis, while the Western medicine diagnosis included 1. Contusion of the eyeball (right) and 2. Traumatic hyphema (right).

On June 10th, she told Jiu Pai News that after the initial attack with the high-pressure water gun, she expressed pain multiple times, and when she stood up, her right eye was shot at close range. There were staff nearby during the incident, but they did not intervene to stop the perpetrator. The man has been located by the police but has not apologized.

She mentioned that her eye is still recovering, but it may not see things as clearly as before, and there might be some lingering effects. The high pressure from the water gun caused her head to still feel dizzy.

A staff member at the Qilu Songshan Canyon Drift scenic spot responded to Red Star News on June 10th, saying they were unaware of the incident, but it is clearly stated in the visitor regulations that high-pressure water guns, sharp objects, and other such items are prohibited from being brought on board. The staff also rigorously inspects passengers before boarding.

Red Star News revealed that the local public security department has intervened, and the police have contacted and found the male tourist. The male tourist admitted to his actions, and relevant local authorities are handling the matter.

After the news was released, it sparked public attention, with many netizens condemning the incident.
