Costco is expanding and has announced plans to open six new stores in early 2025. The new stores are set to open in March 2025, with two in Texas and two in California. Here are the locations and tentative opening dates for the new stores:
– Brentwood, California
– Genesee County, Michigan
– Highland, California
– Prosper, Texas (March 14th)
– Sharon, Massachusetts (March 1st)
– Weatherford, Texas (March 15th)
With these new additions, the membership warehouse giant’s global store count will exceed 900.
On November 27th, Costco opened its 897th store in Pleasanton, where many eager shoppers camped outside to be among the first to enter. Earlier this month, CEO Ron Vachris revealed during a call with analysts on December 12th that the Pleasanton store set a record for the highest sales on an opening day in the U.S., reaching $2.9 million.
In September of this year, Costco raised its membership prices for the first time since 2017. The annual fees for Gold Star members in the U.S. and Canada increased from $60 to $65, while Executive members saw their fees rise from $120 to $130. The maximum annual 2% reward associated with Executive membership also increased from $1,000 to $1,250.
The company reported a 7.6% increase in membership fee revenue to $1.17 billion for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year ending on November 24th, up from $1.08 billion in the same period last year.

Earlier this month, Costco stated that it has 77 million paid members, with nearly half (47%) being Executive members.
Costco plans to open 29 new stores within its ongoing 2025 fiscal year ending in August, with 26 being new constructions and three being relocations. Vachris mentioned earlier this month that ten of these new stores will be located outside the U.S.
