Wealthy Husband Plans His Own Funeral in Advance, Wife Hu Jing Breaks Down in Tears

Chinese Celebrity Huang Jing, who married into a Malaysian wealthy family, recently appeared on the Mainland Chinese variety show “Wife’s Romantic Journey” with her husband Zhu Zhaoxiang. What caught the public’s attention was Zhu Zhaoxiang’s unexpected move of arranging his own “pre-funeral” and having Huang Jing witness it, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

In traditional Chinese culture, death is considered a major taboo. However, Huang Jing’s wealthy husband, Zhu Zhaoxiang, laid in a coffin on the show “Wife’s Romantic Journey,” holding a “pre-funeral” for himself. A video clip from the show shows the moment the coffin was closed, with Huang Jing breaking down in tears, making it the top trending topic.

During the program, 59-year-old Zhu Zhaoxiang explained his reasons for this unusual act. He said he has known Huang Jing for 20 years, married her for 17 years, and being 13 years older, he wanted to mentally prepare her for the possibility of his passing away, hence the enactment of a husband’s funeral.

At the same time, Zhu Zhaoxiang also prepared a farewell letter for Huang Jing. Seeing the letter left by Zhu Zhaoxiang, Huang Jing broke down in tears. Although she initially did not want Zhu Zhaoxiang to actually lie in the coffin on-site, she eventually compromised and allowed him to lay there for 10 seconds, which led her to break down in tears again.

In a previous episode, Zhu Zhaoxiang introduced himself by saying, “I am engaged in the funeral industry.” Considering the unique nature of this profession, when asked if she was concerned about its peculiarity, Huang Jing responded warmly, saying, “At first, I was a bit surprised, but I did not disregard being with him just because he is in this industry.”

Huang Jing disclosed that after being with Zhu Zhaoxiang, she heard some of her friends and acquaintances commenting, “After all the searching, why did she end up with someone in the funeral industry?” To this, Huang Jing expressed how these comments were hurtful to her as she believes that life should be respected in every aspect.

In 2008, Huang Jing married Zhu Zhaoxiang, whom she had been dating for three years. Since then, terms like “marrying into a wealthy family” and “wealthy wife” have been attached to her persistently. Huang Jing clarified that she does not view herself as marrying into a wealthy family but simply marrying someone she loves.

Despite reducing her workload after marriage and having children, Huang Jing continues to pursue her acting career while primarily residing in Malaysia. Balancing between two worlds, she described her versatility: “In Malaysia, I’m a homemaker; in China, I’m an actress.”

Known for portraying numerous iconic screen characters, Huang Jing was classmates with actresses like Zhang Ziyi, Qin Hailu, and Yuan Quan. In her early career, she gained fame for her role as “Su Mo’er” in the series “The Secret History of Xiaozhuang” and later showed her talents in historical dramas like “The Great Qing Palace,” embodying the image of an ancient beauty. When asked about her relationship with her mother-in-law, Huang Jing expressed admiration, saying, “My mother-in-law treats me too well!” indicating strong support from her mother-in-law as she is away filming without any objections. Netizens praised her unparalleled beauty and referred to her as a “rare gem in the wealthy circles.”
