Taiwanese celebrity Big S (Dee Hsu) passed away from pneumonia caused by the flu while traveling. The family confirmed that after the body was cremated in Japan, the ashes were escorted back to Taiwan by her Korean husband, Kun Jun Ye, with the assistance of Xiao S (Barbie Hsu). Amid rumors on Chinese social media platforms like Weibo, claiming that a charter flight was funded by Big S’s ex-husband, Wang Xiao Fei, Xiao S responded on February 6th through her agent, stating, “Do we have to tolerate such outrageous lies?”
According to Taiwan’s United Daily News, Big S passed away suddenly in Japan, and her ashes were brought back to Taiwan by a private charter flight, accompanied by Xiao S, their mother, Kun Jun Ye, and Xiao S’s husband, Hsu Ya Jun. However, rumors circulated wildly on platforms like Weibo and Douyin, suggesting that the expenses were covered by Wang Xiao Fei.
While still grieving, Xiao S responded via her agent on February 6th, mentioning that the affairs related to Big S, including the charter flight, were managed by the Hsu family. She emphasized, “All matters are being handled by the Hsu family and my husband Mike. I can’t understand why such a lie that Wang Xiao Fei funded the charter flight would emerge now. Actions have consequences, especially now that my sister is in heaven. Do we have to continue tolerating such unfounded lies?”
As Xiao S fought back, netizens discovered that the blogger behind the rumors was Xia Jian, the stepson of Wang Xiao Fei’s mother, Zhang Lan, who had also liked and recommended related videos. Netizens demanded an apology from the blogger, and the private charter company, Jetbay, released a statement: “The rumors circulating online regarding the Hsu family’s recent charter flight from Tokyo, Japan to Taiwan are unfounded. All expenses were fully covered by Barbie Hsu, and are unrelated to other claims circulating online. We appreciate everyone’s attention and understanding.”
Reported by mainland media outlet Nanduwan Financial Society, Zhang Lan, currently embroiled in controversy, had her short video platform, “Ma Liu’s Notes,” suspended for three days before resuming broadcasting on February 6th at noon. However, she faced a flood of comments from netizens calling her out for being untruthful and displaying an unseemly attitude. About an hour later, her live stream room was shut down. Zhang Lan’s last live broadcast on that account was on February 3rd at noon, shortly after learning about Big S’s sudden passing.
