**Walmart Unveils Updated Logo for the First Time in Nearly Two Decades**
Walmart is undergoing its first logo update in nearly 20 years to maintain the freshness of the company’s brand. The updated version has sparked discussions online due to its striking resemblance to the old logo.
On Monday (January 13th), Walmart announced the updated version of its brand logo. In comparison to the previous version, Walmart’s logo now features a bolder font inspired by the old trucker hat of Walmart founder, Sam Walton, and modern custom font giving it vitality to stand out among numerous brands.
According to a company press release, the updated version will “better represent Walmart’s image today.”
While Walmart retained the yellow “spark” of their corporate emblem, the company introduced a deeper blue background to keep the brand feeling fresh.
“The spark symbolizes Walmart’s energy and acts as a beacon guiding customers through all aspects of Walmart’s experience,” the press release stated.
The updated logo will be introduced this month on Walmart’s website and app, and will gradually roll out to Walmart’s 10,500 stores.
Walmart’s updated logo has stirred discussions online. Some netizens on the social media platform X remarked that the new logo looks exactly the same as the old one. Others questioned, “I really don’t understand why Walmart spent millions on this.”
Some netizens summarized the new logo compared to the old one, stating that the new version simply deepened the blue tone, brightened the yellow tone, and made the font bolder.
In the press release, Walmart mentioned that the company started in 1951 in Bentonville, Arkansas, and has grown into a global leader dedicated to helping people save money and improve their lives.
