Vice Mayor Tang Kejian of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, Ousted: Made an Appearance just Two Days Ago

On February 28, 2025, Tang Kejian, the Deputy Mayor of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, of the Chinese Communist Party, was caught in a corruption scandal.

Tang Kejian, 56 years old this year, is originally from Shaoyang, Hunan Province. In 2015, he served as the Mayor of Wugang City under the jurisdiction of Shaoyang City, and in 2021, he took over as the Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee. Local media reported that during his tenure as the Mayor of Wugang City, Tang Kejian promoted agricultural products through live streaming events using the local dialect to boost sales, earning him the nickname “Braised Dish Mayor” among netizens.

In December 2023, he left his hometown to serve as the Deputy Mayor of Yongzhou City until his recent downfall. Just two days before being caught, Tang Kejian appeared in public.

According to the WeChat public account “Yongzhou Broadcasting,” on February 26, 2025, a conference on transportation and highway safety environment improvement along with comprehensive rectification of the railway line, known as the “Three Guarantees, Three Greats, One Innovation” campaign, was held in Lengshuitan. Tang Kejian attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

This incident involving Tang Kejian once again highlights the ongoing anti-corruption campaign within the Chinese Communist Party, as cases of officials being investigated and removed from their positions continue to emerge. Tang Kejian’s swift downfall serves as a warning to other officials who engage in corrupt practices, demonstrating the party’s commitment to combating corruption at all levels of government.
