The incident resulted in Vice Chairman Luo sustaining injuries while his brother tragically passed away.
华商报大风新闻 reported on October 12 that an informed source revealed that Vice Chairman Luo of the Hubei and Jiangxi Chamber of Commerce, along with his brother and sister-in-law, collided with a large truck while driving their Mengjie M9 vehicle on autopilot, resulting in the unfortunate death of Vice Chairman Luo’s brother.
A member of the Hubei and Jiangxi Chamber of Commerce publicly shared information within the group, stating that Vice Chairman Luo and his family were involved in a collision with a large truck while driving their Mengjie M9 vehicle. Currently, Vice Chairman Luo and his sister-in-law have been urgently treated in the hospital and are now safely undergoing treatment, while his brother could not be saved due to severe injuries.
“After Vice Chairman Luo regained consciousness, he specifically sent a WeChat message to the secretariat to remind everyone who owns a Mengjie M9 vehicle to pay attention to safe driving, especially when using the autopilot function.”
This incident was confirmed by a member of the chamber.
A member from Ganzhou, Jiangxi, stated, “We have representatives who have already visited the hospital.” However, the exact details of the accident are not clear to the member.
A former colleague of Vice Chairman Luo stated, “The accident occurred on October 9, and he (Vice Chairman Luo) is undergoing recovery treatment in the hospital.” The former colleague mentioned that they do not have information about the driver or the circumstances of the accident.
An emergency room doctor at the People’s Hospital of Jiangxia District in Wuhan gave a response to the media: “The patient was brought to our emergency department by 120 emergency services at 4:59 pm on the 9th and was transferred to the Orthopedics Department for inpatient treatment later that evening around 7 o’clock.”
A colleague who claimed to work with Vice Chairman Luo mentioned that Vice Chairman Luo’s condition is stable, his sister-in-law is not in critical condition, but unfortunately, his brother met a tragic fate. The colleague expressed uncertainty about the driver of the vehicle and which traffic police department is handling the investigation of the accident.
On the evening of October 12, a client manager from Hongmeng Intelligent Driving responded, stating that they would cooperate with the police in the accident investigation.
When asked whether preliminary analysis conclusions could be drawn from the backend driving data, the manager mentioned that feedback had been given to the regional personnel and that post-sales personnel were assisting with the backend issues, which would be reported to the relevant authorities.
Regarding whether the accident was related to autopilot issues, the client manager replied that it may be related to various factors, and the final cause of the accident would be determined by the official police investigation report.
