An Illinois woman recently won a $1 million jackpot after completely forgetting that she had bought a lottery ticket. The woman, who resides in Illinois, purchased a “Lucky Day Lotto” ticket while buying groceries at a store in Elmhurst, a town in the northeastern part of the state, on October 20th.
According to the Illinois Lottery website, the woman mentioned that she made a brief stop at the store on her way to visit her aunt. Along with buying some groceries, she also grabbed a “Lucky Day Lotto” ticket before leaving. However, she placed the ticket in her wallet and forgot about it.
Several days later, she stumbled upon the ticket in her wallet and decided to check if she had won any prizes using the lottery app on her phone. To her surprise, her numbers matched the winning numbers 2-3-24-25-28, resulting in her hitting the $1 million jackpot.
Upon seeing the $1 million prize displayed on her phone, she was overwhelmed with shock. After double-checking and confirming the win, she couldn’t help but shed tears. She expressed her disbelief, stating, “This is truly unbelievable.”
The Illinois Lottery disclosed that she is the ninth person this year in the state to win over $1 million through the “Lucky Day Lotto” game.
The lucky winner shared that she is most excited about being able to travel to her favorite destination every year – Ireland. She mentioned that the scenery there is breathtaking and she is thrilled to be able to look forward to these trips annually.
“Lucky Day Lotto” is a unique lottery game exclusive to Illinois, with two daily draws at 12:40 PM and 9:22 PM.
