The United States intelligence agencies have stated that the video circulating on social media showing Haitians voting in Georgia is a creation of Russia.
On Friday (November 1st), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a joint statement alleging that Russia has disseminated fake videos regarding the U.S. election.
The joint statement reads: “The intelligence community assesses that Russian influencers recently produced a video showing individuals claiming to be from Haiti illegally voting in multiple counties in Georgia. This assessment is based on information available to the intelligence community and past activities by Russian influencers, including videos and other disinformation operations. The Georgia Secretary of State has confirmed the video to be false.
“Russian influencers also created a video falsely accusing individuals connected to the Democratic presidential candidate of receiving bribes from American celebrities.
“This Russian activity is part of broader Moscow efforts aimed at baselessly casting doubt on the integrity of U.S. elections and stoking divisions among Americans, as detailed in previous election updates from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
“In the weeks and months leading up to and following Election Day, the intelligence community expects Russia to produce and disseminate additional media content designed to undermine trust in the fairness of the election and divide the American people.”
In the video circulating on social media, a man claims that he and others in the video are from Haiti, arrived in the U.S. six months ago, obtained U.S. citizenship during this time, and voted for Helen Kellie in several counties in Georgia.
“Yesterday, we voted in Gwinnett County, today we voted in Fulton County,” the man said. “We have all the documents, driver’s licenses. We invite all Haitians to come to the U.S. with their families.”
Georgia Secretary of State responsible for election affairs, Brad Raffensperger, stated that his office is working with state and federal partners to determine the source and urged all social media platforms, including X platform, to remove the video.
