Undergoes Security Check, Flies to Paris, Arrested When Attempting to Illegally Enter Canada

Two weeks ago, a Russian woman named Svetlana Dali managed to sneak onto a Delta Air Lines flight to Paris by impersonating airline personnel and passing through multiple security checkpoints. On Monday (December 16), she was arrested for a second time for cutting off her ankle monitor and attempting to enter Canada.

According to various media reports, the last time Dali was brought back from France and released on the condition that she wear an electronic monitoring device and stay at a friend’s house in Philadelphia.

This time, it was her friend who alerted the authorities after discovering the damaged monitoring device. The friend stated that while they could accommodate her, they did not want to assume any legal responsibility for her.

On Monday morning, the Eastern District prosecutor in New York issued an arrest warrant for Dali for violating the terms of her bail.

Dali was arrested that afternoon in Buffalo. She was attempting to board a Greyhound bus to enter Canada. However, when asked by the authorities to show her passport, she couldn’t provide one, leading to her detention and the discovery that she was a wanted individual.

Dali appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody by the judge. She refused the service of a public defender and opted to represent herself. She made a statement to the judge, claiming that in a previous civil lawsuit, she was a victim of human trafficking and poisoning.

Her initial arrest took place on November 26 for not having proper travel documents. Later, on December 4, she surreptitiously boarded Delta Air Lines Flight 264, which was flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

However, Dali was discovered before the plane landed in Paris, and a few days later, she was ultimately deported back to the United States.

Dali made two illegal border crossing attempts within a month, with the latest one involving trying to enter Canada.
