Two Chinese Women Killed in Japan After Being Hit by Train, Video Footage Revealed

Recently, the tragic incident of two Chinese female tourists being hit and killed by a train at a railway crossing in Japan has garnered attention, as surveillance footage of the moments leading up to the accident has been released.

On the afternoon of January 9th, around 3:50 pm, in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, two Chinese female tourists in their twenties crossed the railway crossing and stopped in front of the pedestrian crossing. Subsequently, the barrier prohibiting passage came down, but the two women remained inside the railway crossing and were struck by the oncoming train.

A man who witnessed the incident found the two women critically injured on the ground and immediately notified the authorities. One of the women was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other woman succumbed to her injuries after being taken to the hospital.

During the investigation, the police found Chinese passports in the belongings of the two individuals, identified as 24-year-old Ms. Yang and 23-year-old Ms. Zhang.

According to the train driver’s account, at the time of the collision, the two women were standing within the railway lines and obstructed by electrical poles. The police speculate that the women may have mistakenly thought the railway tracks were a waiting area for traffic lights, and are currently conducting further inquiries into the matter.

Following the accident, the Sanyo Electric Railway suspended operations between Kasugaoka and Sanyo-Akashi for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Reportedly, since 2009, there have been four similar incidents at the same location, highlighting the importance of safety awareness at railway crossings.
