Turning Point in San Francisco Recovery, J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference to Return in 2026.

On January 23, 2025, Mayor Daniel Lurie of San Francisco announced that the globally renowned J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference will return to San Francisco in 2026, marking a significant affirmation of the city’s revival.

The 2025 J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference was a huge success, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to San Francisco and bringing nearly $100 million in economic benefits to the city, effectively boosting the growth of tourism, dining, and hospitality industries. This success was attributed to effective security measures that provided a safe and stable environment for the event.

During the conference, Mayor Lurie met with Jamie Dimon, the CEO of J.P. Morgan, at City Hall. Dimon expressed deep satisfaction with the security measures in place during the conference in San Francisco, which led to the decision to host the conference in the city again in 2026.

Dimon stated in a press release, “We are eager to collaborate with Mayor Lurie and his team to facilitate the growth of San Francisco. During my visit, I felt a genuine sense of optimism.”

Mayor Lurie emphasized in his statement that the return of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference is a strong affirmation of the city’s efforts. He said, “While we still have much work to do, this is a great vote of confidence in San Francisco and all of our efforts. We are making San Francisco a safe and welcoming place for residents, businesses, and visitors.”

Last week, Mayor Lurie highlighted in media interviews the city’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown area and pave the way for businesses to return. He mentioned plans to relocate more homeless individuals from the streets to treatment centers, including those struggling with addiction or mental illness, in order to improve the city’s street environment.

Lurie stressed that businesses require a safe operating environment, so the city government will focus resources on addressing the historic challenges in the downtown area, including increasing law enforcement presence, cracking down on outdoor drug trafficking, and reducing property crimes.

He admitted, “We are facing historic challenges, and I know these issues cannot be solved overnight.” “The world and the nation need to know… San Francisco is getting back to work… There’s a lot to look forward to, and I hope San Francisco can return to prosperity and vitality.”

As a hub for global artificial intelligence and tech innovation, San Francisco has attracted numerous investors. While whether major corporations will return or expand in San Francisco remains to be seen, Mayor Lurie’s messages to certain CEOs have received positive responses.

Last week, he met with Jonathan Gray, President of Blackstone, promoting the message of San Francisco’s “full recovery.” Gray subsequently issued a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, expressing optimism about San Francisco.

He said, “San Francisco is a great American city and a hub of artificial intelligence innovation. We are confident in the potential for revival under Mayor Lurie’s leadership.”

Next, Mayor Lurie plans to visit New York, Miami, Austin, and other cities to deliver the message of revival to corporate executives: San Francisco remains the top choice for global businesses. “You know, you want to come back to San Francisco,” he said.

In addition to the business revival, San Francisco will host a series of internationally acclaimed events, including the NBA All-Star Game on February 16 and the annual Chinese New Year Parade on February 15.

These events will further attract tourists, stimulate the local economy, and showcase San Francisco’s charm as a cultural and entertainment hub, thereby enhancing the city’s international image.
