On Saturday, July 13, Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, was shot in the right ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Shortly after the incident, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted expressing his full support for Trump.
“I fully support President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery,” Musk wrote on Twitter.
Photos from the scene showed visible blood on Trump’s ear and right side of his face. A spokesperson from the Secret Service, responsible for the security of current and former presidents, later announced that Trump was safe.
In another post, Musk shared a photo showing Trump raising his fist with the American flag in the background, while Secret Service members were seen diligently protecting him. Musk even compared Trump to former President Theodore Roosevelt, who survived an assassination attempt during his 1912 presidential campaign.
Hours later, the Secret Service confirmed one rally attendee was killed and two others were seriously injured. The shooter had been killed.
Sources revealed to Bloomberg that Musk had made a donation to an organization called America PAC. The amount of Musk’s donation remains undisclosed, but it was believed to be a significant sum. America PAC is set to disclose its list of donors on July 15.
Musk has not publicly endorsed any candidate yet.
In March of this year, Trump met with Musk and other billionaires. At that time, Musk indicated that he did not plan to contribute financially to either Trump’s or Biden’s election campaigns.
Previously, Trump had praised Musk at a rally in Arizona, calling himself a “super fan” of electric cars and Musk.
Musk stated that he had informed Trump that electric vehicles are beneficial for the future, and the United States is a leader in battery-powered vehicles.
