Trump’s congressional speech claims to have received “important letter” from Zelensky.

On Tuesday evening, President Trump delivered a speech at a joint session of Congress. During his address, Trump mentioned that he had received an “important letter” from the President of Ukraine, Zelensky, earlier in the day. The letter stated that Ukraine was prepared to “sit down at the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer.”

This marked Trump’s first congressional address since returning to the White House and set a record for being a lengthy speech, lasting for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Trump read aloud parts of Zelensky’s letter during his speech. In the letter, Zelensky expressed gratitude for the U.S.’s efforts in assisting Ukraine in maintaining sovereignty and independence. He also mentioned Ukraine’s willingness to sign mineral and security agreements at any convenient time.

The letter further stated, “My team and I are ready at any moment to work towards lasting peace under President Trump’s strong leadership.”

President Trump expressed his appreciation for the letter and added, “At the same time, we have engaged in serious discussions with Russia and have received strong signals indicating their readiness to achieve peace.”

“Isn’t that wonderful?” Trump remarked.

Last Friday, Trump and Zelensky had a dispute in the Oval Office, resulting in the postponement of the planned mineral agreement signing. On Monday evening, the White House announced a temporary suspension of military aid to Ukraine.

Earlier on Tuesday, Zelensky’s attitude underwent a change. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, he reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to peace, expressing readiness to engage in negotiations with all parties as soon as possible to achieve lasting peace. He also expressed willingness to advance the peace process under Trump’s “strong leadership.”

“No one wants endless war. Ukraine is ready to sit at the negotiation table promptly to facilitate the realization of lasting peace. No one desires peace more than the Ukrainian people. My team and I are prepared to work towards lasting peace under President Trump’s strong leadership.”

During Tuesday night’s speech, Trump mentioned his continuous efforts to end the barbaric conflict in the region.

“Millions of Ukrainians and Russians have needlessly perished or been injured in this terrible and brutal conflict, with no end in sight,” Trump said. “The U.S. has invested billions to support Ukrainian defense, yet security has not been achieved.”

On Monday, during a press conference about the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump expressed his hope for a swift end to the war and cessation of bloodshed. He also mentioned that the Ukraine mineral agreement was not completely off the table, and Zelensky should be more appreciative of U.S. assistance.
