President Trump answered journalists’ questions in the Oval Office of the White House on Monday, March 31st, expressing his views on Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump confirming their romantic relationship and intending to become part of the broader Trump family. He stated, “I love Tiger, and I love Vanessa.”
Trump mentioned that Tiger called him a few months ago to share the news with him. He praised Tiger as a great person and a great athlete. Reflecting on the conversation, Trump said, “I told Tiger, that’s great!” He continued, “I am very happy for both of them; they are both amazing, and I wish them both happiness.”
On March 23rd, professional golfer and 15-time major champion Tiger Woods revealed on social media that he is pursuing Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. That day, the 49-year-old Woods posted a photo of himself with Vanessa, exclaiming, “Love is in the air, life is better with you by my side! We look forward to walking through life’s journey together.”
Vanessa, 47, was married to Donald Trump Jr. for over 13 years, and they share five children. They finalized their divorce in 2018.
Woods has played golf with President Trump on several occasions. In his first term, Trump also awarded Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In February, Woods attended a meeting at the White House with Trump and leaders of the professional golf association, discussing the future championships of the sport and their collaboration with the Saudi-backed LIV league.
President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, congratulated Woods and Vanessa, saying, “Happy for both of you!”
Reflecting on the past, President Trump shared with reporters, “At that time, the witch-hunt, Russia! Russia! Russia! caused serious damage to their relationship. Don Jr. experienced these nasty things, although he didn’t realize it at the time, Vanessa and Don Jr. had a good relationship.”
Don Jr. was also part of the investigation into the Russia probe, accused of facilitating meetings between Russian officials and his father to obtain damaging information on then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The President expressed deep sadness over their breakup, acknowledging that it was a challenging situation for all involved.
