On Saturday night (November 9th), according to the Edison Research company, it was predicted that in the 2024 Presidential election, Donald Trump has secured Arizona, winning all seven swing states and garnering a total of 312 electoral votes.
Trump’s victory in Arizona was announced Saturday night by the Associated Press, where he is currently leading by approximately 185,000 votes with Vice President Kamala Harris unable to catch up. In the 2020 Presidential election, Biden had managed to flip Arizona.
With the recapture of Arizona and its 11 electoral votes, Trump’s total count reached 312 votes, while Harris had 226 votes.
Apart from Arizona, Trump also won swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Nevada.
In the 2016 election, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton and won 306 electoral votes, but did not secure Nevada.
The Associated Press reports that Trump won 74.6 million votes nationwide, representing 50.5%, while Harris garnered 70.9 million votes, amounting to 48%.
In Tuesday’s election, Trump won by a larger margin than expected. The Republican party has taken control of the Senate and is likely to hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives.
Trump is set to meet with President Biden in the Oval Office at the White House next Wednesday to initiate the transition of power.
After Congress certifies the Electoral College vote on January 6th next year, Trump and Vice President-Elect JD Vance will be inaugurated on January 20th.
Currently, Trump has appointed Susie Wiles to be the White House Chief of Staff, responsible for leading the campaign activities. Trump’s key economic priorities post-inauguration are expected to include raising tariffs, cutting taxes, and cracking down on undocumented immigration.
