On Sunday afternoon, Republican presidential candidate and former President Trump took on a new role by personally frying French fries for customers at a McDonald’s in Philadelphia and handing them over to customers through the McDonald’s drive-thru window.
In a McDonald’s in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Trump took off his suit jacket, put on an apron, and began frying French fries. The related video attracted millions of views on social media platforms. He said that this was something he had always wanted to do.
“I have always wanted to do this. And now I’m doing it because she [referring to Hillary Clinton] didn’t.” Trump said, “This is an amazing business. This is an amazing country. We are going to make America great like never before.”
He also talked to reporters about his phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, raising the minimum wage, his experience working at McDonald’s, and even wished his opponent Hillary Clinton a happy 60th birthday, as Sunday was her birthday.
Fox News Digital reporter Brooke Singman joined Trump at McDonald’s and mentioned that the former president’s spirits were high as he continued to fry French fries and distribute them to customers who ordered.
Across the street from McDonald’s, thousands of people gathered to watch.
Trump praised the manager of the McDonald’s, stating that if re-elected, he would make America even better.
“Look at how happy everyone is. They are happy because they want hope. They need hope, and that’s what we are doing. We are going to give you more than hope.” He said.
In August, Hillary Clinton’s campaign team released an advertisement emphasizing the Vice President’s background, hoping to attract middle-class voters by mentioning her time working at McDonald’s while studying at Howard University.
However, Trump and his allies stated that her resume did not mention this.
Trump’s love for fast food is well known. The former president has been photographed eating McDonald’s on his campaign plane. In 2019, he provided McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King fast food for college athletes visiting the White House.
“I love this job,” Trump said at McDonald’s on Sunday, “I am very happy here.”
When asked what his favorite food at McDonald’s was, Trump said, “I love everything here. I love every ounce of it. But I do love French fries.”
As the countdown to the US election continues, Trump will also participate in a town hall-style event at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Pennsylvania on Sunday. There, he may discuss economic topics such as inflation and employment.
It is expected that he will also attend the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets game on Sunday night.
