Trump nominates ambassadors to Portugal and Malta

On December 25, 2024, President-elect Trump announced his nominations for ambassadors to Malta and Portugal. Somers Farkas has been selected as the United States Ambassador to Malta, and John Arrigo as the United States Ambassador to Portugal.

President Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “I am honored to announce that John Arrigo will serve as the next United States Ambassador to Portugal.”

“John is a highly successful entrepreneur in the automotive industry and a golf champion. For over thirty years, he has been an incredible business leader in West Palm Beach, respected by all,” Trump wrote. “I have known John for a long time. He will do an incredible job for our country and always put America first.”

Arrigo currently serves as the Vice President of the Arrigo Auto Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, and has been a longstanding business partner of Trump.

In another statement, Trump nominated Farkas to be the next Ambassador to the Republic of Malta.

Farkas is a model, philanthropist, documentary filmmaker, and a highly successful businesswoman, as described by Trump.

During Trump’s first presidential term, Farkas served in the White House, advocating for various charitable organizations including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the New York Women’s Foundation.
