Trump Invites Musk and Ramaswamy to Lead Government Efficiency Department

In a recent development, President-elect Trump (Donald Trump) has extended an invitation to billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E). This move comes as part of Trump’s plan to establish a new government efficiency department, with Musk set to oversee its management.

Elon Musk has long advocated for a reduction of $2 trillion in federal expenditures, while Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, has been a vocal supporter of Trump since withdrawing from the race.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Trump said, “These two outstanding Americans will work together to eliminate government bureaucracies, cut excessive regulations, reduce wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies – a crucial step for the ‘Save America’ movement.”

Trump further mentioned, “This may become the ‘Manhattan Project’ of our time,” referring to the iconic US research and development project that led to the production of nuclear weapons during World War II.

According to the statement, Musk and Ramaswamy will provide recommendations and guidance from outside the government, collaborating with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to drive large-scale structural reforms and introduce unprecedented entrepreneurial methods into the government.

Amidst this announcement, the Trump administration also made several personnel appointments, with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem appointed as Secretary of Homeland Security, and Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.

Musk previously mentioned the D.O.G.E, stating that he intends to “send shock waves through the entire system and anyone involved in government waste – this will involve a lot of people!”

Trump has tasked Musk and Ramaswamy with completing the work of the efficiency department by no later than July 4, 2026. He expressed his belief that a small-scale, highly efficient, and less bureaucratic government would be the perfect gift for America on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

“I am confident they will succeed!” Trump added.

Responding to the appointment on the X social media platform, Musk stated that the Department of Government Efficiency will have “three fires.”

Ramaswamy also made a post, copying Musk, stating, “We won’t be skimming the surface.”
