On Saturday, July 13th, former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, was shot during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, sustaining an injury to his right ear. Following the incident, Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, posted expressing his full support for Trump.
“I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery,” Musk wrote on X.
Photos from the scene show blood visibly on Trump’s ear and right side of his face. A spokesperson from the Secret Service responsible for the security of current and former presidents soon announced that Trump was safe.
In another post, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, shared a photo showing Trump raising his fist with the American flag in the background, surrounded by Secret Service members protecting him. Musk also compared Trump to former President Theodore Roosevelt, who survived an assassination attempt during his presidential campaign in 1912.
Hours later, the Secret Service confirmed one rally attendee had died and two others were seriously injured. The gunman was reported dead.
Sources revealed to Bloomberg that Musk had made a donation to an organization called “America PAC.” The amount of Musk’s donation is currently unknown, but insiders suggest it is a substantial figure. America PAC is scheduled to disclose its list of donors on July 15.
Musk has not publicly endorsed any candidate yet.
In March of this year, Trump met with Musk and other billionaires. At the time, Musk stated that he did not intend to fund either Trump’s or Biden’s campaign activities.
Previously, Trump had praised Musk at a rally in Arizona, calling himself a “super fan” of electric cars and Musk.
Musk emphasized that he told Trump electric cars are beneficial for the future and that the United States is a leader in battery-powered vehicles.
