Trump attacked during election campaign, Biden and world leaders condemn violence.

On Saturday (July 13), former President Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, but the gunman has been shot dead and Trump is safe. Political figures from both parties in the U.S. and some world leaders have issued statements supporting Trump and condemning violence.

During Saturday evening at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a loud noise rang out, causing Trump to fall to the ground. Secret Service agents protected him off the stage. Images from the scene showed blood on Trump’s face.

Before leaving, Trump raised a fist to the crowd. He was then escorted to a car and evacuated from the scene.

President Biden, senior Democrats and Republicans, as well as former Presidents Obama and George W. Bush, immediately released statements expressing concern and support for Trump, also denouncing political violence.

Several other world leaders have also issued statements supporting Trump.

President Biden said in a statement that he has been briefed on the shooting incident at the Pennsylvania rally.

“I am relieved to hear that he is unharmed. I pray for him and his family and all who attended the rally, and await further information,” the statement said.

“Jill and I thank the Secret Service for their actions to protect Trump. There is no place for violence in America. We must come together as a nation and condemn this,” Biden stated.

In a speech in Delaware, Biden stated that Trump is with his doctor and in good condition. He condemned the shooting, saying “this violence has no place in America.”

“It is sickening, and it is one of the reasons we must unite this country. We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot go on like this, we cannot tolerate this behavior,” he said.

Biden added that he has been trying to reach Trump and noted that Trump is currently with his doctor and appears to be in good condition.

Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement, “We are praying for him, his family, and all those injured and affected by the shooting incident.”

“This violence has no place in our country. We must collectively condemn this heinous act and do our part to ensure it does not lead to more violence,” she said.

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was one of the first world leaders to react to the attack on Trump.

Obrador condemned the shooting, calling it “irrational and inhumane” in a post on X.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Sara and I are shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump. We pray for his safety and quick recovery.”

Honduran President Xiomara Castro de Zelaya stated, “Violence will lead to more violence. I regret what has happened during the U.S. election process and stand in solidarity with President Trump.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said, “My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump in this dark moment.”

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed through the X platform on the 14th, “We must resolutely oppose violent acts that challenge democracy and pray for the speedy recovery of former President Trump.”

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen posted on X platform saying, “I pray for former U.S. President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery. In our democratic country, any form of political violence is unacceptable. I extend my sincere condolences to the victims of the attack.”

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he was “shocked and saddened by the shooting incident at the rally and grateful that he is safe.”

Blinken posted on X on Saturday, “As President Biden said, political violence has no place in the U.S., and we must collectively condemn this behavior.”

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated on Saturday that the entire Department of Defense “condemns this violent act, which has no place in our democracy.”

In a statement posted on X, he said, “This is not how we resolve differences in America—and it never should be.”

“I am thankful to report that former President Trump is safe, and I am praying for him, his family, and all affected by this terrible event,” he added.

Former President and Republican George W. Bush issued a statement saying, “President Trump is safe after this despicable attack, and Laura and I are relieved. We commend the rapid response of the Secret Service agents.”

Former President and Democrat Barack Obama said in a statement, “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democratic system.”

He added that while details are still unclear, “we should all be relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured and use this moment to recommit to maintaining civility and respect in our politics.”

Speaker Mike Johnson posted on X saying he is “praying for President Trump.”

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik also posted on X platform, asking for prayers for former President Trump, his family, and all patriots at the Pennsylvania rally.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said on X, “I am shocked by what happened at the Pennsylvania Trump rally, but relieved to know former President Trump is safe. Political violence has no place in our country.”

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated in a statement on X that he is praying for former President Trump.

“My thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump. I appreciate the swift response of law enforcement,” he said. “America is a democracy. Any form of political violence is unacceptable.”

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she is praying for Trump.

Pelosi wrote on X platform that her family has been a victim of political violence. A man broke into her home with a hammer in search of Pelosi, leading to an attack on her husband.

“I am well aware that any form of political violence has no place in our society,” Pelosi wrote, “Thank God, President Trump is safe.”

Pelosi also mentioned that she is praying for all those who attended the rally.

Democrat Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro condemned political violence on Saturday and stated that he has been briefed on the Trump rally incident.

“Violence against any party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable,” Shapiro wrote on X.

“This behavior should not happen in Pennsylvania or the United States. I have been briefed on the situation.”

Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina said, “Praying for President Trump and all those at the Pennsylvania rally. May God bless them.”

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem stated, “Praying for Donald J. Trump. Praying for America. He is the strongest person I have ever known. No one has been through what he has, hoping for swift justice for his evil attackers.”

New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik stated, “Please pray for President Trump, his family, and all patriots at the state rally today.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said, “Casey and I are praying for Trump and his family.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence said, “Karen and I are praying for President Trump and urge every American to join us.”

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “President Trump will not be deterred. America cannot be destroyed. Pray for our country.”
