Former US President Trump was attacked during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13th, with a bullet grazing his ear and injuring his right ear. A few hours after the incident, Trump released a statement addressing his injuries, stating that he was shot in the “upper part of the right ear.”
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said that he immediately knew something was wrong when he heard swooshing sounds and gunshots, feeling the bullet tearing through his skin.
“I am grateful to the US Secret Service, and all law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the shooting incident in Butler, Pennsylvania just now. Most importantly, I want to express condolences to the families of the deceased and the other injured at the rally. It is truly unbelievable that such a tragedy could happen in our country,” Trump said in the statement.
“At this point, we have no information about the gunman, as he is deceased. I was hit by a bullet that went through the upper part of my right ear. I immediately knew something was wrong because I heard swooshing sounds, gunshots, and immediately felt the bullet tearing through my skin, causing a lot of blood loss, so I was aware of what was happening at that moment. God bless America!”
US Secret Service Communications Director Anthony Guglielmi released a statement at 9 pm EST on the 13th, confirming that the gunman was shot dead by the Secret Service, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., stated in a separate message that he had just spoken with his father on the phone and that he was in good spirits.
He added that no matter what radicals throw at him, he will never stop fighting to save America.
