Former U.S. President Donald Trump was attacked while attending a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13th. A bullet grazed his ear, causing an injury to his right ear. Hours after the incident, Trump released a statement discussing his injuries, stating that the upper part of his right ear was hit by a bullet.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said, “I immediately knew there was a problem because I heard swooshing sounds, gunshots, and immediately felt the bullet tearing through the skin.”
“I thank the U.S. Secret Service, all law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the shooting incident in Butler, Pennsylvania just now. Most importantly, I want to express my condolences to the families of the deceased and the family of another seriously injured person at the rally. It is truly unbelievable that such a thing could happen in our country,” Trump said in the statement.
“As of now, we have no information about the shooter, who is deceased. I was hit by a bullet that penetrated the upper part of my right ear. I immediately knew there was a problem because I heard swooshing sounds, gunshots, and immediately felt the bullet tearing through the skin, causing a lot of blood loss, so I was aware of what was happening at that moment. God bless America!”
Anthony Guglielmi, communications director of the U.S. Secret Service, issued a statement at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the 13th stating that the shooter was shot dead by the Secret Service, resulting in one death and three injuries.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., said in a statement, “I just spoke to my father on the phone, and he is in good spirits.”
He added that, no matter what radicals throw at him, he will never stop fighting to save America.
