Trump Appoints Katie Miller to Join the Department of Efficiency

On December 23, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Katie Miller as one of the first members of his Advisory Board on Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Sunday, December 22. The committee is led by his billionaire allies Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, with the mission to significantly reduce government spending, federal regulations, and federal employees.

Katie Miller, who is the wife of Trump’s incoming Deputy Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor, Stephen Miller, previously served in Trump’s first administration. She held roles as the Deputy Press Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and as the Press Secretary to former Vice President Mike Pence. Currently, she is the spokesperson for Robert Kennedy Jr., whom Trump has appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on the transition team.

Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that “Katie Miller will soon join the Department of Government Efficiency! She has been a loyal supporter of mine for many years, and she will bring her professional experience to the department.”

The Department of Government Efficiency is an informal advisory body. Trump has stated that this institution will enable his government to “reduce unnecessary regulations, cut wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies.”

Musk and Ramaswamy recently revealed a plan to abolish dozens of federal regulations. They believe that these regulations were established by undemocratic and irresponsible bureaucratic entities. Musk has expressed his desire to reduce the number of federal agencies from over 400 to 99.

The Department of Government Efficiency has not yet announced its full list of members.
