“CCP is not equal to Chinese people.” “Abandon the evil CCP for a bright future.” “Celebrate 430 million Chinese quitting the CCP.” “The ultimate goal of communism: to destroy humanity.”
These were the messages displayed on banners during the Toronto Grand March on June 29th, showing support for 430 million Chinese people who have renounced the CCP and its affiliated organizations. The parade received warm reception from spectators along the route. Particularly, recent Chinese immigrants to Toronto were deeply moved, with some choosing to renounce the CCP on the spot.
Around 12:15 PM, led and escorted by Toronto police, the parade mainly comprised Falun Gong practitioners from Toronto, organized into four main sections (Falun Dafa is Good, Anti-Persecution, Waist Drum Team, Disintegrate the CCP and Quit the Party). Guided by the Tian Guo Marching Band, the parade started from Clarence Park, passed through Toronto’s downtown Chinatown on Spadina Avenue, turned at College Street, and returned along Spadina. The sides of Spadina were bustling with shops and pedestrians; wherever the parade went, spectators often applauded, took photos, and gave thumbs-up gestures.
