Queens Night Market Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The Queens Night Market, which has been operating for nine years, is set to celebrate its tenth birthday this year. According to the official website, the night market will return to Flushing Meadows Corona Park in April. In a heartwarming development, last year the Queens Night Market was recognized as one of the “Best Food Markets in the World” by the Financial Times.
As the first and most affordable night market in New York City, all food items will remain priced at $6 or less this year. Like previous years, delicacies from around the globe will be featured including offerings from China, Taiwan, Korea, Argentina, Colombia, Turkey, Peru, and more. In addition to the diverse culinary delights, there will also be booths selling arts and crafts, photography, antiques, ceramics, and hosting small cultural performances, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of New York.
This year, the night market has received over 300 applications from vendors. In order to completely eliminate booth fees and maintain the pricing cap at $5 to $6, the founder of the Queens Night Market, John Wang, is actively seeking partnerships with businesses and organizations to invest in the event. The goal is to ensure that vendors are not charged booth fees, allowing both families and visitors to benefit. This initiative aims to celebrate the successful ten-year run of the Queens Night Market. The night market is a highlight of summer in Queens, with Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. expressing that a summer in Queens without the Queens Night Market is not a true summer. He encourages everyone to visit Corona, taste food from around the world, and celebrate the market’s tenth anniversary.
