The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China announced at noon today that the national defense forces intercepted 32 aircraft sorties, with 16 of them crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait for provocation. The military is closely monitoring the situation.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China at 12:20 pm today, starting from 8:50 am, a total of 32 aircraft including various types of main and auxiliary fighter jets such as the PLAAF Su-30 and KJ-500 airborne early warning aircraft, as well as drones, conducted activities at sea. Among these, 16 sorties crossed the median line and its extension, entering the airspace in the north, central, and southwest of Taiwan. Under the guise of a joint preparedness exercise, Chinese vessels engaged in provocative actions in the vicinity of Taiwan’s airspace and waters.
The Ministry further pointed out that the national defense forces are utilizing joint surveillance and reconnaissance measures to closely monitor the situation, and have dispatched reconnaissance aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems to respond accordingly.
Additionally, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China released information this morning regarding the activity of Chinese military forces in the airspace around the Taiwan Strait. From 6 am on the 9th to 6 am today, 14 aircraft sorties by Chinese aircraft crossed the median line and entered the southwest and eastern airspace, along with the detection of 6 Chinese vessels and 1 government ship, totaling 21 Chinese aircraft and ships conducting continuous activities in the vicinity of the Taiwan Strait.
According to an illustration of Chinese military activities in the airspace around the Taiwan Strait released by the Ministry of National Defense, 2 Chinese main fighter aircraft crossed the median line in the Taiwan Strait airspace between 10:05 am and noon on the 9th.
From 12:40 pm on the 9th to 4:45 am today, the national defense forces detected 11 Chinese main and auxiliary fighter jets, as well as helicopters, in the southwest airspace near Taiwan. Additionally, from 5:05 pm to 6:35 pm on the 9th, 1 Chinese helicopter was detected in the eastern airspace of Taiwan.
The Ministry emphasized that the national defense forces are closely monitoring and responding to the situation using reconnaissance aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems.
