The Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China held a briefing on the “Dynamic Registration System for Taiwanese Traveling to Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau and Related Precautions,” reminding Taiwanese citizens to register before traveling to Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau and to be aware of travel risks.
According to a press release from the Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China, the Council requested the Taiwan Travel Industry Association to hold a briefing on the “Dynamic Registration System for Taiwanese Traveling to Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau” to promote it within the travel industry. They also explained the necessary precautions when traveling to or transiting through Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, hoping that the public can enjoy their trips happily and return home safely.
Lu Chang-shui, Director of the Hong Kong, Macau, and Mongolia Affairs Department of the Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China, stated during his speech that since the lifting of the epidemic restrictions in 2023, there has been a gradual increase in the exchange of personnel between Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. However, in recent years, mainland China has successively amended multiple national security laws, including the implementation of the “National Security Law” and “Safeguarding National Security Regulations” in Hong Kong.
Lu Chang-shui expressed that the Mainland Affairs Council has received numerous inquiries from the public regarding safety issues when traveling, on business trips, or transiting to Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. The Council has been continuously providing relevant information to the public through various channels such as official websites, Facebook, and press conferences. Through this briefing, they aimed to fully inform the travel industry and requested travel agencies and guides to assist the government in disseminating information to the public, hoping to provide “a little more reminder, a little less worry.”
Hsiao Po-jen, Chairman of the Taiwan Travel Industry Association, emphasized that it is the government’s obligation and responsibility to remind people of travel risks. He also expressed the hope that all Taiwanese travelers can have a safe and enjoyable experience. The event was attended by 60 travel industry representatives and participants who raised inquiries and provided suggestions on the operation and practical issues of the “Dynamic Registration System for Taiwanese Traveling to Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.” The Mainland Affairs Council responded to these queries individually and incorporated relevant suggestions for continuous improvement in citizen services.
The Mainland Affairs Council stressed that their stance on promoting healthy and orderly exchanges between both sides of the strait, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau remains consistent. They hope that all relevant parties can empathize and ensure a peaceful and friendly environment for normal and friendly business, tourism, and exchanges.
