On November 15th, a supermarket in Guandu District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province experienced a ground collapse. The building in question spans across a river, and after the ground collapse, a customer fell into the river, resulting in a fractured spine and hospitalization. The supermarket had only been open for less than a week before this incident occurred.
According to Yunnan TV’s urban channel, the ground collapsed at around 5 p.m. on November 15th at a snack supermarket on Sifang Street in the Century City of Guandu District, Kunming. Witnesses reported seeing a person fall into the collapsed area. Until around 11 p.m. on the same day, the scene remained cordoned off.
Videos from the scene showed the building where the snack supermarket is located spanning over a river and connecting with buildings on both sides. After the incident, a large amount of goods and building materials fell into the riverbed below the supermarket.
Extreme News reported that a netizen mentioned experiencing the accident while buying snacks at the store, resulting in a fractured spine and ongoing hospitalization. However, the local police and emergency departments did not respond directly to this incident.
The official account of the snack supermarket indicated that the store had just opened on November 9th and the accident occurred less than a week later.
As of the 17th, when supermarket staff were asked about the situation, they stated that the supermarket had temporarily suspended operations, and specific information about when it would resume operations and the cause of the collapse was unclear as they had not received any notifications.
