On May 10th, according to the China Meteorological Administration, parts of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and 8 provinces are expected to experience severe thunderstorms and gale-force winds of level 8 to 10.
In the early morning of the 10th at 6 o’clock, the China Meteorological Administration issued a blue alert for severe convective weather and gale winds.
From 8 a.m. on the 10th to 8 a.m. on the 11th, some areas of 8 provinces and cities in the southeastern part of Inner Mongolia, western Jilin, northern and western Liaoning, central and northern Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, northern and western Hunan, central-eastern and northwestern Guizhou will be affected by severe thunderstorms with gale-force winds or hail of level 8 to 10.
In particular, locally in central Hebei, northern and southeastern parts of Guizhou, there may be thunderstorms with wind levels exceeding 10, with maximum wind speeds reaching level 11.
Twelve provinces (autonomous regions) including most of Inner Mongolia, southern Heilongjiang, central-western Jilin, central-western Liaoning, eastern Xinjiang and the southern Junggar Basin, eastern Gansu, Ningxia, northern Shaanxi, northern Shanxi, northwestern and southern Hebei, northern Henan, northwestern and eastern Shandong are expected to experience winds of 5 to 6 levels, gusting to 7 to 10 levels; the Bohai Sea, Bohai Strait, northern and central parts of the Yellow Sea will see winds of 7 to 8 levels, gusting to level 9.
From 8 a.m. on the 11th to 8 a.m. on the 12th, central-eastern Inner Mongolia, southern and western parts of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, northern Xinjiang and the southern Junggar Basin, northern Shanxi, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, eastern Henan, and other areas are forecasted to experience winds of 5 to 6 levels, gusting to 7 to 10 levels; the eastern part of the Yellow Sea and the northeastern part of the East China Sea will have winds of 7 levels, gusting to level 8.
In addition to strong winds and hail, many regions will also face heavy rainfall.
It is expected that from 10 a.m. to the morning of the 11th, western Liaoning, central Hebei, southern Shandong, central and southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, eastern and southern Hubei, central-western and northern Hunan, central-northern Jiangxi, southeastern Chongqing, Guizhou, southern Yunnan, eastern and southeastern coastal Guangxi, southwestern Guangdong, and Hainan Island will experience short-term heavy rainfall exceeding 20 mm/hour. Localized areas in northern Hunan, southeastern and northern Guizhou may encounter hourly rainfall exceeding 50 mm, with peaks of over 70 mm.
