Spring has returned to the earth, and the annual “Tulip Festival” at the West Side Community Garden is set to greet visitors with a vibrant sea of flowers starting from April 12th.
The tulips in the garden typically bloom from mid-April to early May, transforming the area into a colorful floral paradise, bringing a sense of spring to the city. The Tulip Festival is held in April, with free admission for visitors every Saturday and Sunday starting from April 12th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Since its founding in 1976, the West Side Community Garden has been maintained by volunteers and operates through donations. While the Tulip Festival is free to attend, participants are encouraged to donate to help support the garden’s operation and flower maintenance.
Located between Amsterdam Ave and Columbus Ave on West 89th St, the garden is the only privately owned and community-maintained garden in New York City. Originally a plot of land filled with garbage slated for urban development, the community residents came together to transform it into the lush green oasis it is today.
The year-round free access to the West Side Community Garden provides a beautiful and tranquil green space for everyone. Visitors can temporarily escape the hustle and bustle here, getting close to nature to relax and unwind. To learn more about garden activities, visit: https://tinyurl.com/y5ddm9rt
