Spanish man owns 3615 mobile phones, sets world record

In Spain, a man’s home resembles a mobile phone store with his impressive collection of 3,615 different models of phones, breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of phones in the world.

According to the Guinness World Records website on August 15th, the man named Wences Palau Fernandez lives in Barcelona and his collection of 3,615 different phone models has been officially recognized as the “largest collection of phones”.

Fernandez surpassed the previous world record set by Andrei Bilbie Argentis from Romania in 2023, who had 3,456 phones in his collection.

Fernandez’s love for phones began in 1999 when he received a Nokia phone as a Christmas gift. Starting in 2008, he began collecting Nokia phones, including models he couldn’t afford before.

Over time, his collection grew to exceed the capacity of display shelves and took over an entire room. By 2018, he had amassed over 700 different Nokia phone models and began collecting other brands and unreleased phones.

These brands include Samsung, Siemens, NEC, Motorola, Blackberry, HTC, and Apple.

Fernandez mentioned that his phone collection has evolved over time. While he had given up on it for about a year, he later resumed the hobby. Besides collecting all phones released by Nokia, he also aims to collect those that never made it to the market, known as prototype phones.

Some of his collection includes limited edition versions, such as the Nokia 3220 Star Wars Episode 3.

As a superfan of Nokia, he created the “Nokia Project Dream” website to document his collection journey and share it with enthusiasts worldwide.

Fernandez said, “My current collection is the result of persistence and significant financial investment. If you are a collector, you’ll understand what I mean. While the collection is still incomplete, I will continue to expand it as much as possible.”

He added, “Even though it’s not complete yet, I have decided to showcase my collection to the world.”
