On the afternoon of October 18, a Shenzhen Airlines flight experienced smoke in the cabin after taking off from Shijiazhuang and had to make an emergency return. Passengers evacuated using the emergency slides.
According to reports from “Extreme News,” an A320 aircraft of Shenzhen Airlines took off from Shijiazhuang Zhengding Airport but had to return, carrying out emergency evacuation procedures.
Shenzhen Airlines reported that flight ZH9138 from Shijiazhuang to Shenzhen experienced smoke in the cabin after takeoff, and the crew followed procedures and decided to return. The flight landed at 14:24. Shenzhen Airlines will make proper arrangements for affected passengers.
A video circulating online shows the aircraft deploying six emergency slides on both sides after landing on the runway, allowing passengers to evacuate by sliding down using the plane’s emergency slides.
Shenzhen Airlines and Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport customer service staff informed reporters from “Red Star News” that the flight did indeed return after takeoff due to “airline reasons” and “mechanical faults.” They mentioned that alternative flights will be arranged to continue transporting the passengers.
