On March 27th (Thursday), a sudden mountain fire broke out in Guiren Canyon, Linshui County, Guang’an, Sichuan. The wildfire raged with the wind, forming a fire line several kilometers long. A mountain turned into a sea of fire in an instant.
According to reports from Guizhou Radio and Television Station, local villagers stated that the wind was strong on the scene, turning a mountain into a sea of fire instantly.
As reported on the scene, the vegetation in the wildfire area in Linshui County mainly consists of pine trees and shrubs. The fire quickly spread with the help of the wind, creating high-intensity surface fires with intermittent crown fires, with some areas having slopes of over 60 degrees.
Similar scenes have occurred in Guang’an before. In the March 2022 fire in the pre-frontier area, the steep slopes and flammable pine forests caused the fire line to repeatedly break through.
Experts’ analysis indicates that the complex terrain in the Guang’an area, coupled with dry climate and strong spring winds, make it highly susceptible to “explosive fires.”
In the August 2022 mountain fire in Huayin City, Sichuan, there was even an occurrence of underground fires reigniting at the fire site.
