Shanghai’s Temperature Exceeds 30°C, Earliest in Nearly a Century.

Today, on the 26th of March, the weather in Shanghai reached 31 degrees Celsius. The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau reported yesterday (25th) that the temperature at Xujiahui Station exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, making it the earliest year to reach 30 degrees since 1933, ranking second in the history of highest temperatures in March.

It is reported that in the over 150-year history of the Xujiahui meteorological observatory, only two days, March 20, 1933, and March 31, 1945, have reached or exceeded 30 degrees.

Pudong and Minhang also exceeded 30 degrees yesterday. Today, according to data from the China Meteorological Administration, the temperature has reached 31 degrees.

According to reports from mainland Chinese media, based on the annual average, the first day in Shanghai with temperatures above 30°C usually occurs at the end of April or beginning of May. It is rare to see this happening in March.

However, with cold air from the northern hemisphere moving southward, the sunny and hot weather is expected to end by tomorrow (27th). Starting the day after tomorrow, a “cliff-like” temperature drop is expected in areas south of the Yellow River.

This year, many unusual phenomena have occurred in various parts of China. In recent days, abnormal bamboo flowering has been observed in Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangsu, and other regions of China. Traditionally, bamboo flowering has been seen as an ominous sign, indicating that a major disaster is imminent.
