Relatives of 174 Burmese Trapped on Mainland China Call for Help After Wang Xing’s Rescue.

Recently, Chinese actor Wang Xing was lured to Thailand and kidnapped to Myanmar. Amid widespread public attention, he was successfully rescued on January 7th. Following the news, families of 174 individuals trapped in Myanmar signed a joint distress signal seeking help.

According to reports from Red Star News, Wang Xing, also known by his stage name “Xing Xing,” went missing last week while filming in Thailand. On January 7th, the Thai government announced that Wang Xing had been found in Myanmar and safely brought back to Thailand.

After news of Wang Xing’s rescue spread, in the afternoon of the same day, within a mutual aid group for the families of 487 trapped individuals in Myanmar, the group leader used an online document to compile information on the trapped individuals. 174 families completed the form, which was eventually named “Joint Distress Signal for the 174 ‘Stars’ Trapped in Myanmar.”

Additionally, according to a report from Hong Kong’s “Ming Pao,” on January 8th, several families of Hong Kong individuals trapped in Myanmar went to the Thai Consulate General in Hong Kong to petition for assistance, hoping that the Thai government would extend a helping hand to rescue their loved ones. Furthermore, on the same day, the family of mainland Chinese model Yang Zeqi also sought help on social media platforms.

According to a post from Yang Zeqi’s family, Yang Zeqi saw a filming notice in a WeChat group on December 8th. She signed up and passed the audition, then traveled alone to Thailand on December 20th. Upon arrival in Thailand, she was taken by a vehicle to the Thailand-Myanmar border. After sending a distress call to a friend on December 21st, she lost contact.

Upon receiving Yang Zeqi’s plea for help, her friend promptly contacted Yang Zeqi’s parents and they reported the incident to the authorities. In the following days, they continuously reached out to the Chinese embassies in Thailand and Myanmar, but to no avail.

With no successful outcome through official channels, Yang Zeqi’s family had no choice but to seek help online and express their hope of connecting with the family of actor Wang Xing to jointly seek assistance in rescuing their loved ones.

Thai authorities, in an interview with Thai media on the 8th, stated that after preliminary investigations, it was confirmed that Chinese actor Wang Xing was a victim of human trafficking. It is planned to repatriate him back to China within 1 to 2 days.
