Primary School Stabbing Incident in Zhongguancun: Perpetrator Says “Authorities Asked Me to Stab”

In a recent incident outside the well-known Zhongguancun Third Elementary School in the Haidian District of Beijing, a random stabbing incident occurred, with 5 injured victims, including 3 elementary school students. Authorities immediately suppressed the news and have not yet disclosed the motive behind the perpetrator’s actions. A video clip shows the perpetrator claiming, “The prosecutor and the judge told me to stab people, it was their orders.”

According to the Beijing Haidian police report, the knife attack occurred around 3:20 pm on the 28th at the intersection of Wanquan Zhuang Road and Wanliu Middle Road in the Haidian District of Beijing. The perpetrator, Mr. Tang (aged 50), was apprehended on the spot, but the report did not mention the reasons for the perpetrator’s actions, the identities of the injured victims, or the extent of their injuries.

According to online sources, Mr. Tang was formerly a security guard at Zhongguancun Third Elementary School and allegedly harbored resentment after being dismissed, leading to the stabbing incident.

In a video from the scene, as bystanders and security personnel subdued the perpetrator, a man questioned him, “Why did you stab people?” To which he replied, “The prosecutor and the judge told me to do it, it was their command.” Subsequently, another man angrily kicked the perpetrator, while a woman shouted, “Beat him to death, hit him!”

Following the incident, related videos and posts on social media platforms like Weibo were deleted. Street vendors told the《联合早报 (Lianhe Zaobao)》that after the incident, “over 100 police officers” arrived to cordon off the scene, with the streets filled with police cars and ambulances. Vendors were also cautioned, “Do not speak recklessly, rely on official information released by the police.”

As of around 8 pm that evening, three police cars were still parked outside the school, with several personnel wearing public security patrol armbands patrolling the school gates.

Zhongguancun Third Elementary School is located in the heart of the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, a preferred school district for children of Communist Party officials and the affluent class. The Haidian District Government, the Haidian Branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, and the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China are all nearby. According to several official Chinese state media reports, the 3 injured minors are all students of that school.
