Former President of the Republic of China, Tsai Ing-wen, set off for Canada today (November 20) to attend the 2024 Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) on the east coast of Canada, following her visit to Europe. She is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the forum.
In mid-October, Tsai Ing-wen visited Czech Republic, France, Belgium, and the headquarters of the European Union. During her speech at the “Forum 2000” in Czech Republic, she emphasized that Taiwan is on the frontline facing threats and military pressure from the Chinese Communist Party. Over the past fifty years, Taiwan has been continuously threatened by the communist regime in China, which has been attempting to annex Taiwan through various means. These threats have only increased during her tenure, making Taiwan an integral part of the international community. Democratic countries and their leaders have shown support for Taiwan, expressing their willingness to collaborate with and visit Taiwan.
According to a statement from Tsai Ing-wen’s office on the 18th, she will depart for Canada on the 20th at the invitation of the Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) to attend the 2024 HISF annual meeting in Halifax on the east coast of Canada. She is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the forum, conveying Taiwan’s steadfast efforts and beliefs in safeguarding democracy and freedom to the international community. Taiwan will continue to cooperate with the global community to contribute to global stability and prosperity.
The office of Tsai Ing-wen stated that the “Halifax International Security Forum” scheduled for November 22-24 is an important gathering of democratic countries to discuss security issues and strengthen strategic cooperation. This year’s theme for the annual conference is “New Eras Arrive.” The forum brings together dozens of countries each year, with hundreds of defense and strategic security experts and political leaders participating. The aim is to promote closer strategic cooperation among democratic countries to collectively address the world’s most pressing security challenges.
