The 73rd Miss Universe pageant has come to a close, with Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark crowned as the winner, making her the first Danish beauty to achieve this honor.
According to media reports, this year’s Miss Universe competition took place last Saturday, November 16, at the Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, with over 120 contestants from around the world vying for the title. The 21-year-old Danish contestant Theilvig emerged victorious among the dazzling array of beauties.
Theilvig, a dancer, entrepreneur, and animal rights advocate, confidently expressed before winning, “I am standing here today because I want to make history, and that is what I aim to do tonight.”
The first runner-up and second runner-up of this edition were Chidimma Adetshina from Nigeria and Maria Fernanda Beltran from Mexico, respectively.
Notably, this beauty pageant lifted the age restriction for the first time since its inception, allowing women above 28 to compete. Furthermore, this year saw several countries or regions sending representatives for the first time, including Belarus, Maldives, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Eritrea, Guinea, and Macau.
The Miss Universe pageant is one of the longest-running and highest-rated beauty pageants in the world, broadcast in 165 countries/regions, with an annual viewership of over 1 billion people.
