The annual Colombia Birdfair, held in the rural areas of Cali every second week of February, is now in its tenth edition since its inception in 2015. This grand birdwatching event aims to raise awareness and interest in bird observation and conservation among the general public, promote local birdwatching activities and ecotourism, as well as raise funds for bird conservation projects in Colombia.

During the four-day event, in addition to offering birdwatching tours for adults, the organizers also featured a special program for children interested in birdwatching. Furthermore, experts and renowned photographers from various countries were invited to give fascinating talks on site, providing valuable insights to attendees.

Colombia is globally renowned for its diverse bird species, ranking first in the world in terms of bird diversity. The country boasts approximately 1,920 species of birds, accounting for about 20% of the world’s total bird species, surpassing countries like Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, and India.
