The scene was captured on video, showing a passenger in a white coat getting their hand trapped in the door of a high-speed train that had already started moving, their body hanging outside the train and being dragged forward. Upon witnessing this, people on the platform were shocked and let out cries of alarm. A high-speed rail staff member noticed the situation and urgently used the intercom to notify the train. An eyewitness who was on the opposite platform at the time told Red Star News that it was around six o’clock in the afternoon when the high-speed train was preparing to depart the station. As the passenger attempted to board the train, their hand got caught in the door, causing them to be dragged. After a while, the train finally stopped moving, and the passenger was rescued.
On the evening of December 21st, the official statement from South Station stated that at 18:33 on December 21st, the G1175 train from Wuhan to Shantou was about to depart from Guangzhou South Station when a passenger, attempting to switch train cars at the last minute, tried to pry the door open as it was closing. Unfortunately, the passenger’s hand got trapped, resulting in finger injuries. The passenger has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
